RADIOS, iPODS, CELL PHONES, MP3 PLAYERS and OTHER TOYS

Items that have no useful purpose at school are not to be brought on campus. Violation of this rule will result in confiscation of the item(s). Persistent violation of this rule will result in suspension from school. Cell phones are now allowed on campus but may only be used during break, lunch, before or after school outside the building. Cell phones are never to be on inside the building and classrooms.

GANG ACTIVITY

It is against school rules to participate in any gang activity while at school. This includes signs, graffiti, dress, posturing or loitering in a group while on campus.

SMOKING

California State Law and the Novato Unified School District Board Policy forbid any tobacco products, which include smoking, on school campuses. Safe Schools route policy includes the "No Smoking" rule as you proceed to and from school. Regardless of your age, possession of tobacco products on school campuses is a suspendable offense.

Violation of the No Smoking policy will result in the following:

  • First Offense - suspension from school for one day.
  • Second Offense - Suspension from school for three days
  • Third Offense - Suspension for five days
  • Fourth Offense - Referral to the SARB board for transfer to another school and/ or expulsion from the NUSD School District.

    SEXUAL HARASSMENT and OTHER INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR

    Unwelcome sexual conduct, both verbal and physical, is not allowed and is against the law. Students can be suspended, expelled and/or arrested for sexual harassment. Victims of sexual harassment are expected to report the incident immediately to the administrator or school personnel. Conduct that is deemed inappropriate for students at school, such as, kissing, hugging, fondling or other sexual behaviors will not be allowed while on campus. Students who indulge in such behaviors will be disciplined.

    FIGHTING

    Students found fighting on campus will be suspended from school. The length of the suspension will be determined by the severity of the circumstances. Police may be called if warranted.
