[download this letter] We would like to invite you to join the Marin Oaks Parents Teachers Students Association (PTSA). As we begin the new school year this is the first time Marin Oaks has ever had a PTSA. Our Marin Oaks PTSA was established in June of 2008. It is our hope that all of our parents will join the PTSA. As we work together with our ideas, our efforts and our (sometimes undiscovered) talents we can improve the program at the school and benefit everyone; mainly our student body. Our main goal this year is to raise funds for new computers. We can do this together by getting involved into some of the following activities: ==> At the request of our student leadership team last year, we are planning a Fall Fiesta Wednesday, November 19, 2008. We will get donations from the best restaurants in Marin County and parents who can, will contribute their favorite dishes. ==> On that occasion we will also have a Silent Auction. We welcome your donations of new items. Please talk to store owners where you usually shop about tax-deductible donations for our school. ==> We will start a year round cell phone recycling program, which will benefit our school as well as the environment and endangered species. Please start gathering old cell phones from your friends and family and bring them to school. ==> Students will write letters in their Economy and English classes to get donations for Marin Oaks from large corporations. ==> We will hold a large rummage sale on March 28th. We will be taking your items during the month of March, so please save them until then. We have more ideas and we are waiting for yours. To get started we need your membership. Please include your dues of $10 per member in the attached envelope with your name. All donations are tax deductible. Memberships for all Marin Oaks students has already been paid for by an anonymous donor. We are very grateful. Our next meeting will be Thursday October 30, 2008 at 1:45. Parents who cannot make it but want to help out are welcome to call Veronica Slaughter at (415) 897 7196 so we can connect. We are looking forward to meeting with you and working together to make Marin Oaks an even better school.>
